Wifi Andon Display System for Manufacturing Industries

Andon is a system which uses visual control to indicate the work progress, maintains and process problem of machine or its also widely known as information tool which provides instant warnings, if there are presences of any error or problem during the manufacturing of the machine the system automatically indicates by blinking flashlight or nowadays many advanced methods are used such as audio, text or graphics (LED display) method, so as to detect and stop the problem as early as possible.


Andon based on Jidoka principle, it is a typical tool in Manufacturing. Jidoka is referred as “automation”, which means highlighting a problem occurred in any system and immediately introducing measures to prevent it from troubleshooting. There are two types of Andon system which are activated by team leader by pressing the button and another by pulling the cord. The complexity of the Andon system depends on the industries requirement.

The Wi-Fi Andon systems are wireless used in a higher level of the management system and where the production rate is high and also used by many fast-growing industries by this system management can know about the working condition of the machine by sitting in a remote location with the help of wireless protocol, mobile or laptop.

Andon has been used by many ‘A’ grade industries for many application such as in the manufacturing of vehicles parts, in inventory management, in packing and shipping of the items such as in Flipkart, Amazon, in inventory management. Andon Board vary from process to process and applications. They are generally used to communicate information from production plant such as workstation status, Production setting (weight, speed, gas consumption, temperature). Different times like downtime, current time, running period time.

 

The features of Andon Display system :

  • It is visible and audible for entire workgroup in a company
  • The output or signal which is displayed is understandable and concise the output usually contains Ok, Abnormality, and Process Stop.
  • It is timely responsive and provides real-time data.
  • Work status in particular area can be recognized
  • Problems and error can be easily corrected and the defect will not be passed forward with the help of above features.

Colour used in Andon system :

Green: Indicates the work is on plan and there are no issues, no action is taken place by the team leader or by team members.

Amber (Yellow): The issues have arisen which is threatening process to complete, the team needs outside help with fixing and troubleshooting a defect.

Red: Indicates that the work will be not completed by given time due to the number of errors occurred and production will be stopped and it requires the technical assistant or engineers for resolving the problems.
